Today is granddaughter Tarah’s 16th birthday but since she had school and had to work the concession stand for a game tonight (a JV cheerleader duty), we had her family celebration last evening.

We had offered to take her out to dinner but being the bright young lady she is – as well as a healthy eater – she requested her Papa’s green beans with new potatoes, bacon and onions plus baked sweet potatoes. My kind of eating! But of course we had to have a cake and her mom, Cindy, made a fabulous carrot cake which we all enjoyed along with ice cream.
Tarah had an exciting birthday weekend since she was the sophomore member of the Nixa Homecoming court on Friday night. Burl got to be there to see her and take photos and she looked beautiful.
Tarah had just turned 8 when I met Burl so I have now known her for almost half of her life and it has been a pleasure to see her mature into a lovely young lady.
Happy Birthday, Tarah – just wish you could know now how wonderful these days are for you but unfortunately youth is wasted on the young ‘uns!
