It would be wonderful if I could tell you I found a magic formula to shrink my butt – however, the rear end being mentioned belongs to our beloved GoldWing.  We loaded it on the trailer and took it to Neosho Powersports early this morning and while we are still waiting for the final verdict (and for Honda to confirm it’s covered by warranty), the initial diagnosis appears to be that the rear end is OUT!  I finally asked Burl to explain to me in simple terms what that really means and he got into seals and leaks and then lost me – so let’s just say that this particular problem is one we don’t want to have but since we’re no longer traveling thousands of miles away from home, it’s less serious than it would have been a couple of weeks ago.

While we waited to see if we were going to leave it or not we took advantage of the Starbucks that’s located inside the dealership – they even have an Internet cafe and fresh baked goodies – quite a setup for a small town motorcycle dealer.  We also looked at the new ‘Wings and decided we’ll stick with the one we have!

We stopped at the farmer’s market in Monett on the way home and picked up some peaches & cream corn along with a couple of zucchini and then had lunch in Marionville.  I figured if Burl was going to see a movie I suggested the least I could do was let him pick the lunch spot!  By time we got home the rain had stopped and Mulligan was raring to go for a walk which is what we did.

I’ve been wanting to see Food, Inc. at The Moxie and had offered to go see it alone since I didn’t think Burl would enjoy it but he agreed to go so off we went to the rush hour show.  The audience was sparse but we saw our friends Joyce and Bruce there as well as one of my few loyal readers, Mary, so it was good to catch up with them before the movie and during intermission.  Mary and I were co-workers when I had the pesky day job and have stayed in touch since I left Cox – she’s an amazing woman who inspires me in so many ways so getting to enjoy a movie with her was quite a treat.

Both Tammy and Ralph had seen Food, Inc. and had told me about parts of it so it wasn’t a total shock – however, I think the biggest revelation was over the soybeans and Monsanto.  From what I’ve learned in the movie, I could be sued for saying anything libelous about companies so suffice it to say I will pay more attention to voting with my feet and my wallet in the future where food choices are concerned.  I probably only eat beef once or twice a month and may cut down on that consumption now and ratchet up the fish since the movie didn’t hit much on that topic.  I doubt that my appetite for pork and chicken will change although I’ll be sure to choose the Smart Chicken from now on.   Still, I think eating anything these days is a crap shoot for e coli but since I’m not going on a total fast, I’ll have to put some of this at the back of my mind.

Naturally we left the theatre and headed out to eat!  We had a gift certificate at Houlihan’s that was about to expire and for once we got excellent service there.  They do a beautiful presentation with their food and after the tortilla soup, there was no way I could eat all my enchiladas even though the serving wasn’t that big.  However, when we got a free dessert, we split the Snickers ice cream scoop and after 3 bites, I let Burl finish what he could.

Tomorrow I need to pick some fresh green beans and get them into the freezer ASAP.  We’ll fix another mess of them later in the week when the Phoenix crew is here.  And I know these haven’t been sprayed or genetically engineered – or at least not to my knowledge!
