End of the Month Musings

After we got back from our trip, my brain obviously went on vacation because it sure hasn’t been thinking about writing.  Guess that makes sense – according to Burl, we didn’t go on vacation because that’s our life 24/7 – instead we took a sightseeing trip.  Whatever you call it, being on the road afforded me plenty of time to write in my head so postings were kind of on auto-pilot.  Here’s a recap of Vacation Life 24/7 since we returned – some blips of what’s going on in our lives:

  • I’ve gotten to exercise every day and feel so much more energized – now I just need to lose the 3 pounds I gained.  3 weeks of travel = 3 pounds of fat.  Good thing we came home early.
  • Burl thinks the rear end is going out on the motorcycle.  I have no clue what that means exactly but it’s not good – so tomorrow we’re taking it to a dealer in Neosho and leaving it to get fixed, assuming the warranty covers it.  If not, we’ll have a non-factory mechanic here do it.
  • We picked green beans out of the garden and had them for dinner less than an hour later.  Burl combined them w/new potatoes and onions from the farmer’s market, added some bacon and cooked them in the pressure cooker.  To complete the meal we picked fresh tomatoes from the garden.
  • I found an easy recipe for sun-dried tomatoes made in the oven – I know what I’m doing with our tomato surplus.
  • Tammy and I picked a date for a garage sale – August 21-22.  It was that or load it up and take to the thrift shop – now all I have to donate will be what’s left over!
  • I found out my 1996 Honda Accord doesn’t quality as Cash for Clunkers with a combined MPG of 28 – I thought you only had to trade up 10 MPG but it doesn’t matter – I’m hanging on to my little car and Burl won’t part with his 1989 truck that truly is a C4C vehicle!
  • I cleaned out the utility room and can now walk through it to the shelves.  It was a scary job but yielded lots of crap for the garage sale.
  • I picked up 4 books on reserve at the library – now I just need time to read them.
  • Tammy & I hit the big sale at Dillard’s yesterday as well as TJ Maxx and I got a couple of pairs of pants plus a couple of tops – one pair of pants did not get the Tammy Seal of Approval and while I appreciate her letting me know the width of the pants bottom would not enhance my figure, I bought them anyway.  Here’s hoping I won’t be arrested.
  • I attended the Leadership Springfield board retreat and got energized for another year of service on the board.
  • We went to Rotary 5thursday last evening at Arris’ Pizza which I love and Burl doesn’t.  He still had fun – they had his favorite beer and he loves to socialize more than I do anyway.
  • I actually cooked a meal!

Whew!  The rest of the week has just been the normal run-of-the-mill crap we do every week – mowing, laundry, cleaning – so guess it’s time for the weekend so we can relax.  :-)
