Who knew Big Sky country was also the home to cherries and huckleberries? Well, certainly not me! But as we wandered our way north on Highway 93 this afternoon we spotted lots of roadside stands selling cherries and huckleberries.

The town of Arlee even painted their water tower to resemble a cherry on top! I don’t think I’ve ever tasted a huckleberry but at one pit stop along the road they had fresh huckleberry slushes so we decided to share one. It was so good that I took a big slurp and immediately had brain freeze!
We drove for mile along Flathead Lake which was breathtaking – although I’m betting the water is icy cold even this time of year.

The lake is over 200 square miles which sounds big to me – have no idea how it compares to Table Rock or Lake of the Ozarks but for clarity and mountain scenery, it would be hard to beat.
Also along our route today (after we finally left the interstate) we saw several bicyclists who appeared to be going long distances.

We are currently near the area where our friends Ann and Norb rode last year as they traversed the U.S. and we are using a couple of their maps to assist in where to stay. Just the sight of these two cyclists made me homesick for my Trek!
I finished another book today and this one I heartily recommend – “Queen of the Road” by Doreen Orion I received this book last year when I upgraded to Life 2.0 and knew it was one I had to savor while on a trip and this was the opportune time. Even if you’re not ready to quit the day job for a year and travel around the country, read this book and you’ll soon be evaluating your life and what’s really important. On top of that, you’ll have a ball watching this Jewish American Princess undergo an amazing transformation.
