Vacation Planning   1 comment

Half the fun of taking a vacation is the planning that goes into it.  This trip will take us to all new sights after we leave Kansas City so we are picking the brains of friends who have traveled where we’re going.

Tonight our friends Ann and Norb came over for dinner and brought maps for the northwest part of the U.S.  Last summer they rode their bikes from Anacortes, WA to Boston, MA and they have some great maps that not only stay on secondary, paved roads but also have information concerning lodging, food, gas and sight-seeing.  We took copious notes and marked places on our own maps and added their information to what we’ve learned from other friends.

Burl has already changed the brakes on the motorcycle, changed the oil and packed the bearings on the trailer – along with a bunch of other stuff that falls under the heading of “motorcycle maintenance” and is clearly on his chore chart and not mine.

So far I’ve collected 20 books to read on the trip!  Books for trip 002

Do I have enough?

  1. If you are a member or know of someone who is, you might try AAA for maps and sites to see – if you haven’t already. We found them helpful when we went to the East Coast several years ago.
