This evening the self-proclaimed fabulous Women of Substance dined outside at d’Arpino’s Italian restaurant. Vickie even brought a list of topics so we hadn’t even ordered before the discussion started. Here are the highlights that we can share:
- Robin was sporting a new white purse which she loves – but not as much as the one she gave to her sister on her birthday.
- Vickie took over my role and asked if they served Bud Light Lime – when she got a negative reply, she then asked for a Bud Light with lime which they didn’t have. And she doesn’t even drink! I enjoyed my Boulevard Wheat!
- Vickie sent an email to us yesterday saying she was giving up her “hobbies” for us tonight. I suspected she meant “hubby” which was correct but we think she secretly has hobbies that involve hubbies.
- Robin has been taking Alli for 2 weeks with no side effects and loves it – but she has been diligent on limiting her calories and fat grams. The fear of the side effects is the stick she needs to stay on track.
- Robin claims she’s the only one of us who is normal and brings us closer to the center. Yeah, right – what are you smoking?
- NPR recently interviewed people with high-level jobs and asked if they would buy a Chevrolet. We deferred to Robin who won’t trade in her Lexus. We all agree GM needs to reinvent themselves – but at their own expense.
- According to the Kiplinger report, BMW will go under in 5 years.
- Robin recommends The Differenceby Jean Chatsky, the financial person on the Today Show.
- Jim Collins has a new book that’s a follow up to Good to Great.
- Vickie recently returned a conference in Austin, TX and bought a t-shirt that says “Keep Austin Weird”.
- At the conference, they spent an evening seeing “Esther’s Follies” which was a vaudeville show and very funny. Periodically they would open a window behind the stage and peer out on the street – and at 8:30 each night a large black man comes by and moons the audience.
- Robin recently sprained her ankle while running in a marathon – she’s really bummed because she was on pace to set a new world record in her age group. (The following comment is false – she doesn’t want anyone to know the truth and think she’s a klutz!)
- Robin’s company recently participated in a virtual trade show – with attendance down at these things now, this may be the look of the future.
- I ordered the new iPhone 3G S today – and Robin is thinking about getting one too. Mine’s white!
- Good friend Morey thinks I need to write a book – but she forgot to give me a topic.
- Vickie and her family attended a wedding last weekend – it was in a rural setting near Oldfield and they served s’mores – now Hannah has this place in mind for her wedding which Vickie hopes is a LONG way off.
- Extreme Home Makeover will be in Greene County July 14-20 to makeover a home for one of 5 lucky finalists.
- Vickie recently won 3 hours of Success Coaching but is not sure she wants it.
- Hannah is participating in Hammers and Nails mission project until Sunday and then will start the 1 Mile Trips projects on Monday. Right now she’s in Park Hills which used to be known as Flat River.
- Vickie and Hannah recently scored great buys on hot summer dresses at White House Black Market – Hannah’s was $34 marked down from $169 and Vickie’s was $23.
- Lemongrass is a natural mosquito repellent – as are Bounce dryer sheets and vanilla.
- Technology is wasted on the younger generation – they don’t know what to do when it goes down.
- The new area of leadership research is called Hope-Centered Leadership.
- Go to casenet.com to look up legal cases.
- Robin has been asked to be a professional mentor to two young colleagues in her company.
Whew! We sure covered a lot of ground tonight – and that’s just the stuff we can make public! We’ll miss July due to my travels so will have to do double time in August. I’m sure we’re up to the occasion.
