Pool Boy, aka Hubby, is in Phoenix this week and it’s a bit lonely here. I have to fetch the paper in the morning from the end of the drive, put chlorine tablets in the pool and empty the skimmer (at least 1 dead frog each day so far), water the garden and flowers, and warm my own bed at night. He’s quite the low-maintenance guy and when he’s not here I realize how spoiled I am – but please don’t tell him!
Daughter Stacey is turning 40 in a few days so the family is gathering in Phoenix to celebrate. Burl flew out on Monday, I’ll go tomorrow night and we’ll both return on Monday evening. The direct flights from Allegiant sure make it convenient and affordable to fly from here even though we’re still 70 miles from Mike and Annie’s when we arrive.
Despite being down one roommate this week (I still have Mulligan!), I have not really been lonely. I conducted my final Rotary board meeting on Tuesday, enjoyed a long lunch with the gals from my former day job, attended the Leadership Springfield annual meeting, did a bike ride to Rogersville with friend Jill and attended an advisory board meeting for Show-Me Institute.
Today will provide more fun – a long walk with Mulligan, Rotary at noon and then the monthly gathering of Women of Substance tonight. In between I’ve been sewing sundresses for Julia and Lydia, hosted friend Breck with Show-Me Institute for a night (and introduced her to a new red wine that we enjoyed) and got in some pool time each day.
You’ll notice that nowhere in that litany of events did I include meal planning or cooking……so life without Pool Boy does have a few perks!
