Our Soup Group got together this evening at our house after a hiatus of who-knows-how long. Doesn’t matter – it was just fun to have us all here and catch up on our visiting. We were originally a group of 3 couples who would do periodic potlucks and one month we all brought soup – apparently it escaped our collective minds that no one was bringing bread, salad or dessert. Thus our name!
We are now at 2.5 couples after Bev lost 175 pounds – she divorced him! And she got the Soup Group in the settlement. Lucky Bev!
Before we ate, Tom and Sally led us on a field trip to see the progress being made on a new home that one of Sally’s life-long friends is building. The home is made from 5 shipping containers and is located on a beautiful bluff overlooking Panther Creek several miles east of Springfield. It’s a very forward-thinking concept and the architects/builders are garnering international interest in this new approach to housing – especially from the viewpoint of recycling the containers plus making it a green building. I’d try to describe it but you can see photos and read all about it at the owner’s blog.
It’s hard to beat an evening with dear friends – especially ones we enjoy so much and yet rarely see due to all of us being retired and extremely busy. Add to that the fact that Bev lives in Branson so I can’t just pop over to her house for food and drink when the mood hits. I’m just thankful she lived here when I needed Bev Therapy during my divorce and family deaths.
We parted this evening with promises that our next gathering will be in the near future – which for retirees means within the next year – if we can fit it in between grandkids and traveling!
