It dawned on me earlier this afternoon that unless I make a new blog entry, friend Vickie is going to email the complaint line and I hate when that happens!  But I’m in the midst of a fairly uneventful week and there’s been nothing new on the national or international scene that makes me want to rant and rave.

The main focus at our house has been the pool.  One of our goals each year is to be in it by Memorial Day and we achieved that goal – however, the pool was void of water and instead, we were cleaning it out with brooms and the pressure washer!

After numerous calls to our regular pool people, we followed up on a lead from friends who suggested another company.  I called yesterday morning – Lisa (co-owner along w/Clayton) was friendly and promised to be out by around 2:00.  She even called about 1:00 to say they would be delayed and I assured her we’d be home all afternoon.

In the meantime, I arrived home from lunch to find Dave, the regular pool guy there – after asking them to let us know if he’d be coming out.  I explained that we got frustrated by not getting our calls returned, etc. and had called someone else.  Fortunately we parted as friends and he was quite understanding.

About 5:30 Lisa and Clayton arrived and from the start we suspected that Clayton was far from sober.  They insisted the only remedy was a new liner for $3500.  We said no – they left.

This morning Burl tucked his tail between his legs and made a personal appearance at Fishel Pools where he was fortunate to see both Dave and the owner, Craig.  He made amends with them and they crafted a course of action which has been thwarted today by the rain.  Hopefully Dave will be here tomorrow when it’s sunny and they can try the first remedy.  We may still have to suck it up and get a new liner but at least we’ll try a less expensive option first.

Burl mentioned he’d like to get a new camera for our trip and I told him we’d better wait and see what the pool outcome is!

But we’ve had fun this week too – last night we celebrated SIL Steve’s original 39th birthday (actually it’s Saturday 5/30) with dinner here.  I actually cooked and Tammy said she gave me a passing grade with her gourmet sister.  Thanks, Tammy.  We went in with Tammy to give him ax espresso machine and now hope he’ll remember to call some Saturday morning when he’s playing barista.

Tuesday evening we did a motorcycle ride with our GWTA group and were blessed with clear skies all evening.  I’m waiting for a day when I can give up a few chores and we have sunny weather so I can get the Trek out of the garage.

Tonight is a BBQ fundraiser for our friend Bob Dixon who is kicking off his campaign for the Missouri State Senate.  Tomorrow night is couples golf at the club.

Life is good.  It will be better when I’m floating in the pool!
