Indoor Pool   2 comments

The backyard pool is still waiting for the pool guys to come work their magic and determine if we have a leak in the lines – or a leak in the liner.  No matter what the problem, we figure they are sitting on several thousand bucks minimum for their bill so I’m sure they’ll be getting to our pool soon.

In the meantime, Mother Nature has decided April showers were so nice, she’s going to rerun them in May!  The month started with plenty of fireworks and poor Mulligan was running around the house barking at all the thunder and lightning while I tried to sleep.  At some point during the night we lost our electricity and when we got up this morning, Burl’s new digital rain gauge showed a total of 3.58 inches of rain overnight.

Sure seemed like a lot more just by listening to it!

The good news is the flowers got watered.  The bad news is, our lower level is very, very wet.  Unfortunately we have carpet in all of it except Burl’s shop and we also had a lot of stuff stored in cardboard boxes on the floor.  Oops!

We spent a large part of the day extracting water with the super-duper wet/dry vac and I’m not sure we’ve made much headway.

I’m leaving in the morning for a Rotary conference and then to babysit the little girls in Des Moines for a few days.

By time I return on Wednesday night I’m hoping Burl has ripped up the carpet and is picking out new tile.

  1. Poor Burl! I bet he never knew being married to you would mean so much work! He probably thought he’d get a rest after remodeling the bathroom, but no, now he has to work on the basement. I think removing soggy, old carpeting is much worse than working on a bathroom!

  2. Have fun in Des Moines! Russ has a couple of sisters that moved there a few years ago, and since then it’s been a fun place to visit — except in the winter when it’s usually 10-15 degrees colder!

sorry we missed your get-together, maybe we can make it up sometime. thanks for your comments about my sketches!
