The bathroom is 99.9% finished and I feel like I’m living in a new home. Same hubby, same dog – but now two rooms have been renovated. At this rate, we’ll be done around 2030.
It’s hard to remember how butt ugly the old bathroom was.
The colors were ones I would never have chosen since I’m not into browns or the earth tones in any way – just not in my color palette.
The stool and tub didn’t match – the tile on the walls was dated – the carpet was beyond help. And much as I needed new towels, I couldn’t reconcile buying them until the makeover was final.
Watch out Ralph Lauren outlet store – I’m heading your way for a boatload of towels!
So – after a total of 29 days, several extremely heated discussions, lots of learning of how to communicate effectively, a huge amount of head-butting from a couple of hard-headed people and VOILA! Here it is:
Pretty amazing, isn’t it?
The only items left from the original bathroom are the cabinet bases, the light fixtures and the cabinet over the stool (which Burl built for me a few years ago).
It’s so fun to have everything bright, shiny, new and done!

I promised Burl that when this remodel was over he could have the summer off to play golf and ride the motorcycle. I’m not totally altruistic though – I’m ready for time on the bicycle and hopefully in the pool once the pool people figure out where the leak is and get it fixed.
But today I’m happily cleaning house since we’re having our travel group from Tlaquepaque tonight for dinner. Several of our friends from Mexico were supposed to be here to join us but the travel restrictions due to the swine flu kept them at home.
I’m making frozen margaritas and Azteca Soup – yummy!
Wow! It’s amazing. I can’t wait to see it in person.
I arrived here via ShowMe Daily .. now I want the recipe for Azteca Soup!
