The new tile is now in the bathroom – still hasn’t had the grout put in but at least it’s on the floor and I love the way it looks – clean and bright.  img_0109The lighting in the bathroom is insufficient to do the floor color justice but it’s a very light gray and the grouting will be a medium gray.  Tomorrow I get my first lesson in how to grout – hope I don’t grouse!!!

The rain yesterday kept us home from Silver Dollar City so that’s when Burl did the floor.  He had high hopes today of playing golf in the Senior League but it got cancelled due to the course being so wet and our course was having a tournament so he was SOL on fun stuff for the day.

I eagerly scratched my plans to go to a class at the gym figuring I’d take advantage of a rare day when we both could work on this never-ending project.  When the cabinet shop called at 8:30 to tell us our counter top was ready, we knew the next step – removing the 8′ cultured marble top.  Just getting it out was quite an ordeal and required a great deal of muscle along with some ingenuity to navigate out the narrow bathroom door, into the hall, around a corner and out the front door.  img_0111

Here it is resting in our entry hall while we try to determine how to get it onto the trailer so it can go to the Habitat for Humanity Restore.  Burl figured out that by resting it on large Styrofoam blocks, we could scoot it along the hardwood floor and out the door.  I have to admit there are times that I’m thankful he saves every blessed thing imaginable!

The vanity top, stool and tub departed for the Habitat Restore and then we picked up the new vanity top and new stool which are both sitting in the front hallway awaiting installation.  We also got a new door for the bathroom since the old one was peeling – only $10 at Habitat – such a deal!

While I went out to dinner tonight Burl hung the new door and started working on the plumbing for the vanity.  Tomorrow he will be gone part of the day so I hope to work on patching the walls where there are now a few holes as a result of removing the counter top.  I’m holding off on any more painting of the walls or cabinets until we’re through will all the installation – seems like everything I’ve done so far has gotten chipped or gouged.

The rest of the week is looking “iffy” given his schedule of motorcycle riding, golfing and church work day so I’m having a hard time visualizing this project coming to an end.

Must remember to keep the faith – or go find something fun to do in the meantime!  :-)
