Anyone remember the old Saturday Night Live skit about PuppyUppers and Doggy Downers? Well Mulligan looks like he got into a big bag of Doggy Downers. 
He’s sad, depressed and angry. He feels betrayed and wouldn’t smile for the camera.
During the presidential election he was almost ready to vote against McCain when he heard Obama say he would get a rescue dog for his daughters. That promise wasn’t quite sufficient for him to put his paw print in the “D” column on the ballot but it was close.
And now he knows the truth about campaign promises. They aren’t always kept!
Did the Obama daughters get a rescue dog? Nope! They got a dog but instead it’s a fancy-schmancy purebred dog that came from a breeder and not a shelter. Mulligan is crushed. It’s blow for rescue dogs everywhere.
Ever wonder where he got his name? If you know anything about golf, a “mulligan” is a term for a “do-over” – getting to try a stroke a second time. Since we rescued him from a shelter, he got a do-over in life – hence, he’s a Mulligan. And a poster child for rescue dogs everywhere.
Unfortunately the First Dog is not a rescue dog but if you or your family wants to adopt a new pet, please look first at your local shelter and consider adopting an animal that needs a good home. You may not get a pedigree but you’ll get lots of loving.
Yep, I’m not impressed by the designer dog the president has. Maybe he should get a cat.
