My bathroom fixtures arrived today – the shower head, tub faucet and the sink faucet for the soon-to-be ordered vessel sink.  They are just as beautiful as I imagined and I can’t wait to see them installed.

But – there are more decisions to be made before we reach that point!  We spent the afternoon (after a leisurely lunch out – something we never do) looking for the bathroom vanity top which is turning into a real challenge.  While I’d love to have granite, I can’t take for “granite” that my bank account likes that choice!  We did find a beautiful piece at a great price at a warehouse but by time we pay to have it custom cut and holes drilled for the sink and faucet, it’s more than I want to spend.

I’m about ready to order a laminate top which will suffice just fine for our needs – I’d much rather have the killer faucets and vessel sink which is the plan.

So – I now have the colors I “think” I want for the counter top, walls, cabinets and flooring.  I have them laid out in the bathroom so I can look at them periodically and know I’m 100% certain before we proceed.

Next step – Burl teaches me how to install the tub faucet and shower head and then I learn how to finish the drywall so it can be painted eventually.  Then we’ll remove the ugly tile under the stool (have you noticed how often I’ve used the word “ugly” in describing this bathroom?), lay the new tile and put in the new stool.

After that, we remove the rest of the wall tile, Burl puts up new drywall, I take off the wallpaper, we install the new vanity top, sink and faucets – and then I get to paint the walls and cabinets.  Whew!

When I told a friend I’d be happy if we’re finished by Memorial Day, I really wasn’t fooling.

Tomorrow is Burl’s day off – motorcycle ride in the morning, tee time in the afternoon.  Thursday I have Rotary and racquetball and Friday he plays golf again.

I’m wondering…..Memorial Day of what year?
