I mentioned yesterday that the new tub/shower combo was installed so here’s living proof!
The copper piping that sticks straight out is where the water will eventually flow into the tub – but we are currently waiting for the shower faucet fixtures to arrive which should be Monday or Tuesday. In the meantime, Burl gets a short vacation and already has a tee time for Monday.
I’m not sure what the next phase in this project entails but I think it involves removing the rest of the wall tiles and then he will Sheetrock where they were along with putting new drywall above and alongside the shower/tub. After that will probably be the floor since it has to be done before the new stool is enthroned (pun intended!). I forgot to get a shot of the old carpet but here’s the sub-flooring along with some new plywood Burl laid yesterday.
Apparently there was once tile under the carpet and it was glued to the sub-flooring (see the checked part on the left) so Burl will probably need to remove that part of the floor before we put down the new tile. The carpet we removed was NASTY! I have never been a fan of bathroom carpeting but this stuff was badly stained before I ever arrived on the scene and when I spilled deep purple nail polish on it, you could see a vast improvement. When Burl took it up, he asked me what we should do with it. Seriously? Did he really need to ask? For some reason he thought we could recycle it into mats for the garage but I made sure it went straight to the trash.
I have one last major decision to make and that’s for the counter top. The search will resume again on Monday!
In the meantime I’ve been letting Burl have a bit of R&R. He had no choice but to stop yesterday afternoon because a long time ago we invited our friends Becky and Clarence over for dinner as a thank you for a favor they had done. Burl got to relax with a couple of frozen margaritas, a superb dinner I fixed (even got in my new recipe for April – Weight Watcher chocolate souffle – 2 yummy points) and some Mexican Train dominoes.
Today we spent several hours working with others from Southeast Rotary doing yard work at the home of one of our members. Including family members we had about two dozen workers and really blitzed a huge yard – raking, laying topsoil, sowing grass seed, laying straw on the seed, carting off limbs and rock and then mulching around some trees.
Here’s a shot of Nancy who is our Family of Rotary Chair along with Board Member Faith (who enlisted her whole family to help today). They proved once again that the hardest workers – and best cheerleaders – were of the female persuasion!
We had a perfect day – albeit windy – and I’m now pooped from all the upper body workout and fresh air. Mulligan’s walk will probably be shorter today – I need to spend quality time with my knitting needles.
Love it! Your previous post cracked me up, about the installation. Totally like what happens around here. In one home I lived in, we had cultured marble cut and put it above the shower/tub and ceiling. You just attach it with caulk. It looked pretty and kept the water off of the walls. You can get it at Springfield Cultured Marble if you’re interested. My hubby never cusses either, I on the other hand……..
