Technically it’s still winter but when it’s mid-March and the temps approach 80, the trees are budding out and some flowers are blooming, I think it’s spring. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck….you get the picture! It’s spring.
I’m so ready to put away any clothes that remind me of winter and start wearing sandals exclusively (the better to show off my Mexico pedicure!) but yesterday was a day that begged to be enjoyed out of doors. And what better way to experience it than from the back of a motorcycle!
We met our friends Wiliferd and Charlotte and went north on back roads to Bennett Springs State Park where we enjoyed a late lunch and then walked around the park. The stream was dotted with plenty of fishermen – and fisherwomen – and we delighted in watching the fly-fishers work their lines and reel in their catches – many of which were released to be caught another time.
The day had that fresh smell of trees starting to bud and stuff poking up from the ground basking in the sunshine. We took a different route home because after all, riding a motorcycle for fun is about the journey and NOT the destination!
Today I’m hoping Burl gets my bicycle off the trainer so my Trek and I can go for the inaugural outdoor ride of 2009.
Spring has sprung!
