I love vacations – no doubt about it! Especially when I get to go to a place with warm weather and abundant sunshine. And I love seeing new places, staying up late and sleeping late too. Like all good things, this vacation ended when we returned home on Monday evening!
Reality bit me first when the alarm sounded at 6:15 yesterday as I had to attend a 7:30 board meeting. Since daylight savings time hit while we were gone it felt like I was getting up in the middle of the night and I know it will take a few days to adjust.
After my meeting I hit the Step-Climber at the gym to start working off the extra few pounds of tequila, chips and guacamole that came home with me. I ran a couple of essential errands and then went home to veg. No energy – still nursing a Mexican head cold and just couldn’t seem to work up any enthusiasm to tackle all the stuff I need to be doing – organizing tax information, sewing three little pink Easter dresses, finishing a knitting project, cleaning the house, etc.
I returned a few emails, did a couple of loads of laundry and read! Not my normal “make a list and start ticking off the items” day – just a day to veg! Probably didn’t help that Burl’s cold is worse than mine and he barely moved from the couch or recliner all day.
Mulligan loved it – his people were just sitting around at his beck and call!
By late afternoon I started thinking I should take him for a walk and that’s when it started raining – forget that idea.
Today it’s cold and I’m off to a slow start but gaining speed thanks to a large quantity of coffee. I’ll attend a Rotaract luncheon at noon, go to the gym, run a few errands and get back on track.
Now it’s time to pull out the tax file and face that dreaded chore.
