We awoke to snow falling this morning – and it hasn’t stopped all day – but knowing that in 24 hours we can be sipping a margarita poolside at our B&B in Tlaquepaque allows us to thumb our noses at this white stuff.
We head out in the morning with a group from my Rotary Club and anticipate a fun-filled week as we visit Rotary Clubs in Springfield’s Sister City and spend a couple of days working on service project with the local Rotarians – a day of clearing a soccer field and another interacting with kids at a Rotary day care center. We’re taking sidewalk chalk and soccer equipment for the kids and I figure anything I take and leave just frees up space in my luggage to shop while we’re gone.
The rest of the gang will come home at the end of the week but we’re staying a few extra days for some R&R and to explore the area on our own. We do have some fun stuff planned already this week – a day trip to Lake Chapala, tour of Guadalajara and a trip to Tequila (yes, that’s the name of a town) to visit a…..tequila plant! Can you say Jose Cuervo? I can!
This trip will take us to new adventures and challenges – the biggest challenge I will face will be attending 2 Rotary meetings that start at 8:30 p.m. and last until after midnight! I’m a night owl but by 10:00 I want to climb into bed and read so I’ve already warned Burl he may need to poke me if I start drifting off. We’ve been advised to take a siesta on those days.
While the B&B has wi-fi, I may not want to take the time to blog so photos and a travel log may have to wait until we return.
Right now I just need to double-check my packing, make sure I have my travel necessities (book, Sudoku and knitting) and decide where to eat this evening. Our plans with friends got cancelled due to the weather and the resident cook is already on vacation!
Adios……….
