We’re coming down the home stretch of finishing my sewing/craft room and I’m so ready to be done! Thanks to friend Kirsten, we went to CBS Cabinets in Nixa on Wednesday and scored the perfect pair of cabinets. They were in the back in the remnant pile but were just what I wanted and Burl was able to easily repair the little dings they had – and they were already painted white too!
Thursday while I was at Rotary and getting some errands run – like buying a killer pair of new boots thanks to Personal Shopper Tammy – he got a butcher block laminate counter top and installed that over the cabinets. I didn’t have to endure the work in process – I just got to come home and drool over the final product.
In the meantime, the decorating gods shown on me and I found material for the Roman shades. It’s not what I picked originally but I like even better and it was half the price of what I thought I wanted. And in that process met a lady who makes these shades professionally and gave me all kinds of great tips.
The last thing Burl has to do is put up some shelves for me over the counter tops – however, we seem to disagree on how they should look so he’s waiting until I can tell him exactly how they should be hung. Smart man! I already know what he has in mind won’t be enough shelving but he has more downstairs in the Bermuda triangle known as his workshop.
By Monday the shelves should be up and I hope to spend a few days working on the shades – in between the gym, a haircut and of course dinner with Women of Substance – all that very important stuff. But I hope to have it all done when we leave on vacation in a week and then I can come home and start on 3 little pink Easter dresses!
Stay tuned for the before and after pictures of my sewing room. Coming soon to a blog near you!
