Wasting Away Again in Margaritaville

Last night we had a dual birthday celebration for Burl and Lydia.  Lydia will be 3 tomorrow and got to choose the party theme which was Hello Kitty.  Burl’s birthday is Thursday and he got quite a kick out of having his name on the Hello Kitty cake. His theory was, hey it’s cake so who care what it says!  img_0853 It was white cake with butter cream frosting and quite yummy too!  I fixed homemade lasagna, Ralph made an awesome salad, Tammy did the bread and Annie and Steve cleaned up.  A great group effort.

Even better than cake were our frozen margaritas made with the gift I gave to Burl – a Margaritaville Frozen Concoction Machine!  We made sure gifts were opened at the start of the evening so we could immediately taste test this baby and let me tell you, they were quite tasty!  Cindy and Stacey gave him a gift basket full of all the margarita fixin’s including tequila, glasses, limes and salt rimmer.  img_0844 If you’re thirsty, stop by and ask Bartender Burl for a frozen drink and he’ll give you your choice of sugar or salt on the rim!  I can already see lots of fun margarita time around the pool this summer!

Grandson Devin and his mom Annie also joined us last night – they caught a cheap flight from Phoenix and are here for the weekend.  Since we last saw Devin about a month ago he has master the art of toddling on 2 legs although he still resorts to crawling when he really wants to get somewhere fast.

Tonight Annie is treating us to dinner at one of her favorite local spots – Steak ‘n Shake!  Annie says she comes home to see family and eat!  On her way from the airport to her parents’ home on Friday night she stopped for cashew chicken and I’m sure she’ll hit Mexican Villa before her flight leaves tomorrow evening.  What a woman – nothing but the best local dives for her.

Ralph just called – they are safely back to Des Moines where the temp is NOT 65!  Brrrrrrrrr!!!
