Ralph and the girls arrived late this afternoon and it’s so good to have them here. I hadn’t seen them since Thanksgiving which is way too long to go between visits. At 5 1/2, Julia hasn’t changed much – she’s still a Drama Queen and the bossy big sister but has mastered writing her “L’s” correctly with the bottom part going to the right instead of the left!
Lydia will be 3 on Monday and in the last few months has expanded her rapidly growing vocabulary and also decided to humor her mom and become potty trained. Ralph was convinced it was a battle of wills between them over the whole potty training issue but apparently once Lydia decided to go ahead with it, she ditched the diapers and moved on to Big Girl Undies!
The Letter of the Week at Julia’s school this week was “L” and today Julia had to take something to school for Show and Tell that started with the letter “L” – and she chose to take Lydia.
While they have already made some really funny comments, my favorite is one Ralph shared. She said Julia came into the kitchen this morning and said “How come Grammie and Aunt Tammy have websites and you don’t, Mommy?” Ralph is still wondering how her young mind came up with that one!
The big news today is that we added a couple of days onto our trip to Mexico early next month. Why we didn’t do that initially is beyond me – probably because we had a couple of other trips planned (that have since fallen through) but anyway, we will stay a couple of extra days after our group departs for home.
I’m now following the weather for Tlaquepaque and wondering how I can skimp on the clothing I take in order to accommodate the shopping I plan to do – including the 2 liters of tequila we are each allowed to bring back. Tammy wants a 70′s-style tunic and Ralph wants me to get mumus for the girls - and nothing beats Mexican vanilla. This trip may require an extra piece of luggage for the trip home!
Tomorrow we’re looking forward to some quality outdoor time with the girls. We all are trying to recover from cabin fever and I think tomorrow will be just the day for a cure.
