Super Bowl XLIII is history and unfortunately my team – the St. Louis/Arizona Cardinals came out on the short end of the points when it was over. The Cards and Kurt Warner played an awesome game – and Warner had the best quarterback stats – but it wasn’t enough. Of course, the fluke 100-yard TD at the end of the first quarter didn’t help much either.
But for most of 4 hours I actually sat in the den with Burl and watched TV – a real rarity for me! Our Super Bowl tradition is for me to make soup since it’s easy to eat at halftime. Tonight I made Chicken Tortilla Soup and while I watched Bruce Springsteen, Burl made corn muffins to go with it. Yummy!
Note to Ed – since Burl had the Cards and 6 points, you owe him $5!
For those friends who wonder how I can actually sit in front of a TV for a few hours, here’s how I did it! First of all, I had my laptop on and multi-tasked by bidding on eBay (won a 90-skein lot of needlepoint yarn and a black clutch purse) and watching items of mine that a friend was selling for me. It was a bit strange at first to see my shoes and clothing for sale but I had fun tracking them. I’ll admit Burl was a bit sad that the dress I bought to wear on our first New Year’s Eve went for $.99 – but it no longer fits (thank goodness) nor was I ever going to wear it again. But he did go shopping with me to pick it out – guess he’s more sentimental than I am!
I also did some knitting and of course watched all the ads. Once again, Budweiser stole my heart with the Clydesdales and dalmatians – I’m such a sucker for the animals and since my childhood dog was a dalmatian, they had me at the first “woof” in those commercials. I also liked the one for some kind of pet food that had all the unusual pets. Other favorites were from Coke, godaddy.com, eTrade plus some that I found entertaining but they didn’t leave a brand imprint on my brain!
We’re winding down a busy weekend – surprise 60th birthday party for a friend, funeral visitation and service, bridal shower, dinner out (just the 2 of us), long walk with the dog – and all the usual everyday stuff like laundry.
Ralph and the girls arrive Thursday so I have plenty to do before then – such as make a couple of Hello Kitty doll blankets and clean the house.
Wanna bet which one takes priority with me?
