Let’s Face(book) It   3 comments

A friend sent me an invitation to be her friend on Facebook – but in order to do so, I need to join Facebook.  Or putting it another way, I need to be part of the 21st century!

I know what Facebook is, I can spell it, I’m just not a member…yet.

So I’m hoping my loyal audience can provide me with the pros and cons of becoming a Facebook member.  And please include any tips I need to know – do’s and don’t's – what works, what doesn’t –  that kind of thing.

Enlighten me please.

  1. Hi Anne:
The girls signed me up a couple of weeks ago. Has been nice to find friends. Like any social network I think it could have a downside.
Doesn’t take as much effort as a blog????

  2. Please refer to the latest post on my blog… :) I’m quickly approaching 20 year reunion, and have lost touch with almost ALL of high school friends, so it has been a LOT of fun. Plus fun keeping up with friends here in town and what they are doing on a day-to-day basis. You’re so hip, you oughta get on there… you’d like it!
    Nb

  3. Facebook helps you remember all of the people you didn’t want to forget. Conversely, Facebook helps you remember people you don’t want to see again. What do you tell the person you don’t want to know when they send the “friend” request.

    Eck!

From a generational standpoint, for me (nearly 40) I have to be on Facebook or I look like a luddite. For someone a generation back, if you’re not on MySpace, Facebook and YouTube, you don’t exist.

I say do it, but like blogging, it steals time. I’ve noticed that I post short random stuff on Facebook and long stuff on my weblog, make it look older and stale.

    Good luck!
