What do you get when you mix snow with ice?  How about “snice”!  That’s what I’m calling it anyway.  Since we rarely get snow, it’s actually very pretty to see.  Here’s the view from our deck earlier today.  img_0779Obviously not a great day for using the pool but had we thought about it earlier, we could have been sipping Bailey’s in the hot tub this evening while it snowed.  Someone unplugged the automatic heater to the hot tub before we left on our trip and hasn’t turned it on again.  Wonder who?

I was able to put this snow day to good use.  I worked out on my bike trainer and then sewed doll dresses.  Santa brought Julia an American Girl doll this year so she handed down her no-name 18″ doll to Lydia.  Since I made Christmas dresses for the girls, I decided to make similar ones for their dolls.  Trust me, the larger dresses were a lot easier to make then the doll dresses!  But they were fun and I think the girls will be pleased with their matching clothes.  img_0784 I bought several patterns for this size doll so I think I’ll go ahead and make them pink fleece hoodies with sweat pants.  The good news is, most of these patterns feature Velcro instead of buttons so the hand sewing is practically nil

We stayed in today, but it was only because there really wasn’t a reason to venture out.  Tomorrow is another matter.  Burl has his weekly breakfast with his motorcycle buddies at 7 so he’ll be up and out of here early.  I’m meeting him at 10 to play racquetball and by then I’ll have maxed on staying at home.

Besides, I need to get velcro to finish the dresses….and perhaps more material.  Can’t let this new sewing machine sit idle!

  1. Those dresses are adorable! And the other doll has a name, Helen. The American Girl doll’s name is Camille.

  2. Very well done! I really love the dresses!
