Work Week   Leave a comment

TGIF!  For some reason, I thought when I left the pesky day job that Fridays would be no big deal.  And they haven’t been until this week.

5:00 Friday afternoon……my sewing/craft room is painted.

Did you hear my big sigh of relief?

I’m sure I could have finished sooner but let’s face it, a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do and for me that means keeping up with sewing class, racquetball, Rotary meetings, lunch with friends and trips to the gym.

But the painting is finished and tomorrow we will do the clean up work and shampoo the carpet before we start putting furniture back in the room.  There are still a lot of decisions to be made concerning the window treatment, sewing table (which Burl will build), shelving and storage and the indirect lighting.

Have I mentioned that I detest overhead lighting?  Too harsh and glaring – but not sure what I will do for lighting in that room.

Tammy and Cindy have both been helpful in giving input on fabric choices and along the way I think I’ve chosen the material for the master bedroom bedding and know the accent colors for pillows and window treatments.(Who coined that phrase anyway?  Sounds like my windows are sick and need medical attention!)

Burl has mellowed somewhat on the whole redecorating project and simply asked today if I would leave “his” rooms for the last – meaning the extra bedroom where he stows all his sports gear and clothing and the den where he and the TV live in the evenings.  I can accommodate that request.

I did ask what room he wanted to do next and he suggested my bathroom – works for me!  He will end up doing the majority of the tough work with a new tub and stool plus flooring – I get the easy job of painting and picking out new towels.

While I didn’t actually put in 40 hours this week, it sure feels like I did.  For some reason, I don’t think I’ll be getting a paycheck for my efforts.
