One thing Burl and I have never had to deal with is one of us being incapacitated due to a broken bone or surgery. We’re fortunate – and pushing our luck as we stay in this world longer!
Last night our Golf Group gathered at our house for drinks, food and Mexican Train (I won $6!). Our friend Kathy had rotator cuff surgery a couple of weeks ago so her right arm is in a sling for at least another month. Her hubby, Jim, has been thoroughly attentive to her every need and has discovered that housecleaning IS hard work and the bathrooms DO have to be cleaned on a regular basis.
However, there were a few issues they hadn’t anticipated – one being positions for marital activity! At her first post-op visit, Kathy broached the subject with the PA thinking he had surely encountered this question from a previous patient. Obviously he hadn’t – he blushed, stammered out an unintelligible answer and left the room! Guess he hasn’t heard of horny senior citizens.
Being the resourceful folks they are, Jim and Kathy have devised their own remedies and we are all backing them to write a book – complete with diagrams!!!
The other dilemma they’ve found is getting Kathy’s bra on! The guys had a great time ribbing Jim about his expertise in getting it OFF – but never bothering to think about how to get it ON!
The real fun will begin tomorrow! Jim has rotator cuff surgery of his own – also on the right side. He’ll be in a sling for 6+ weeks, Kathy has another month before her sling comes off – but they’ll have plenty of time for creative thinking!!!
The best helping hand I’ve had today has been the pair of hands that are helping me strip the wallpaper border in my sewing room. I can only hope the intensity of this project is not foretelling of all the other rooms with wallpaper – I swear this stuff was applied with Gorilla Glue. It’s going to be a long, tedious process but then my parents always told me that anything worth doing, was worth doing right – and not to expect instant results.
I hate it when they’re right!
