After watching “Godfather Part I” last week, we decided to rent parts 2 and 3 while #1 was fresh in our minds – and of course in keeping with my Mafia obsession.
Why can’t Hollywood just leave well enough alone? The original “Godfather” was awesome – it won an Oscar for best picture and is clearly my favorite flick of all time (followed by “Sleepless in Seattle”). So how could I have forgotten how awful “Godfather 2″ really was? All those flashbacks mixed with short, unconnected scenes made for a long 200 minutes. I think we stayed with it because we enjoy pain or something – not for the entertainment value.
We have #3 rented but I’m betting it goes back to the video store ASAP.
Burl left early this morning to do some work at the Shrine so I’ve been tackling all kinds of stuff on my “to do” list – including:
- Posted furniture for sale on CraigsList - let me know if you need an entertainment center or dresser and queen-sized bed. The sooner I get rid of the bedroom stuff, the quicker I can have a sewing/craft room.
- Worked out – wanted to walk the dog but it was too damned cold!
- Gathered up all the Christmas wrapping stuff and have it ready for Burl to put in the attic
- Shopped for patterns for American Girl doll clothing – the pattern I wanted was sold out so I’ll wait until next week and try some other places.
- Bought a wedding shower gift – 2 weeks before I need it!
- Organized my sewing box
Now it’s time for a reading break and then get ready for the rush hour showing of “Gran Torino” with friends. I have no doubt it will be a vast improvement over last night’s flick.
