Goodby to 2008   Leave a comment

Today is New Year’s Eve which I suppose should prompt me to write something very profound like my Top 10 List for 2008 or my New Year’s  resolutions or predictions for the world for next year.  So if that’s what you’re looking for you may as well stop now!

2008 produced a huge life change for me with the upgrade to Life 2.0 but it would be hard to narrow all the top events to a mere list of 10.  Suffice it to say I am more blessed than I deserve to be and most of the time do not acknowledge to God the gratitude for what I have received.  I have a wonderful family, good health, and a strong faith – beyond that, everything is just the cherry and whipped cream on top of the dessert.

We are in San Diego and have been enjoying a gorgeous day with our family.  Burl and Len had a 6:50 a.m. tee time so Stacey, Alex and I had the morning to just play.  They have moved to a different home since we were last here and their new area boasts tons of hiking trails and lots of hills to encourage a great cardio workout.  We headed down the hill to a little French bistro where we thought we’d get breakfast but the ooey gooey offerings were just too much – we ended up at Albertson’s where they got donuts and I feasted on an apple and yogurt.

Then we went to a nearby park and Alex took us on in kickball – and whipped our butts soundly!  It was SO fun to play like a 10-year old again although the most fun was making up insane rules to meet our abilities!  Within about 45 minutes, Stacey and I were exhausted from chasing Alex – and the ball – all over the field and we realized we had not yet had caffeine.  Starbucks to the rescue – enough to fuel us for the trek home.

We met the guys at Pei Wei and enjoyed lunch on the patio and now Stacey and I are taking a break before we get ready for their party tonight.  Our friends Ron and Barb from home are in town so will join us for dinner followed by games and fun at home.

Our Christmas gift to Stacey was a frozen margarita machine – wanna bet it gets plenty of use tonight?

To my 2-3 loyal readers, I wish you a happy end to 2008 and only the best for 2009.  Happy New Year!
