Four Christmases   Leave a comment

While we were in Phoenix last month, a new movie theatre opened in our downtown area and Burl has been wanting to go check it out, despite the dearth of decent movies being turned out by Hollywood.  Since it has 14 screen, it provides ample opportunity to see sub-par flicks at higher prices – such a deal!

Tonight we had one of those rare evenings with no plans – other than a funeral visitation – so we grabbed a quick bite to eat, stopped to pay our respects and drove downtown…which was semi-deserted for a Friday night but after all, it was only 7:15!

Earlier we had reviewed the movie offerings and since I wasn’t enthralled with “Quantum of Solace” and Burl nixed “Milk”, we settled on the so-so offering of “Four Christmases”.  The local rating was a C- and not even a star-studded cast could save this attempt at humor.  The theatre itself is great – comfy stadium “date” seats and lots of legroom.

Thankfully it was a short movie.  Even better is that fact that even though we too will experience Christmas celebrations with family four times this season, none of our relatives are as dysfunctional as these fictional characters.  That’s not to say we’re normal (whatever THAT is) – it’s just that we know how to put the FUN in dysfunction!

Take my suggestion – if you really think you want to see this movie, wait until it’s out on DVD, then rent it some night when you can’t sleep.  I guarantee it will bring on the zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz’s!
