Checking Out The Girls   1 comment

Today was my annual mammogram.  I’ll spare you the details other than to say the mammo tech immediately recognized that I’d lost weight since a year ago just from the films.  It’s really sad when a stranger tells you that you lost weight exactly where you don’t want to lose it – instead of in my GUT!

Since I have a couple of friends who have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer I’m using my exam as a reminder to everyone out there who is 40 or over – or who has a family history of breast cancer – to PLEASE get a mammogram.  The exam time is short, the discomfort is short-lived and the peace of mind to you and your family is priceless – and most exams are heavily covered by your insurance and if money is an issue, call The Women’s Center at CoxHealth and let them know you need assistance if you’re in the Springfield area.

We now return to our regularly scheduled program of Christmas music by which to wrap presents on a cold afternoon!  ‘Tis the Season!

Oh – and don’t forget your monthly self breast exams either!  End of sermon.

  1. Thanks for the public service announcement, a nice reminder to all!! And for the plug for The Women’s Center and our assistance for those need it — our breast cancer silent auction was a couple of weeks ago and raised a nice amount of money for the fund, thanks to the hard work of the Foundation.

Yes, it is amazing that any weight gain or loss shows on your chest first… Mine are nice and almost voluptuous, unfortunately I have the accompanying thighs, butt and gut to go with them! Damn! But am working on all of it, back on the wagon again.
