Racquetball Shoulder   2 comments

I’ve heard of Tennis Elbow – never had it – but never Racquetball Shoulder which I now have – or at least that’s my self-diagnosis.  Let’s see – Monday I went to a weightlifting class for an hour followed by racquetball with Burl for an hour and yesterday I played another hour of racquetball.  I’m beginning to think there’s a cause and effect for my very sore right shoulder – ya think?

Today I entertained a bit of caution and spent my gym time on the StepClimber which gave me an excellent cardio workout but let my upper body – especially the right shoulder – rest.  I’m thinking that’s the game plan for tomorrow too – along with some Aleve and a heating pad.  Burl’s feeling the effects of the game too so I didn’t book a court for us tomorrow.   Damn, I hate these sports injuries!

For those of you in the Springfield area who read this blog, please head over to Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts this weekend for the annual Winterfest – this juried art show starts at 5 on Friday evening, runs all day Saturday and on Sunday until late afternoon.  It’s a great opportunity to see local and regional talent as well as pick up some Christmas gifts or just something special for yourself.  And of course you should stop at the booth of Red Bee Designs on the 2nd floor and see what daughter Tammy has in her display case.  I know she’s been working long hours in her studio to get ready for the show and I’ll be there early Friday morning to assist her in setting up in whatever way my shoulder will allow.

Best of all, if you stop by her booth and don’t tell her she looks like her mother, she just might make you a deal!

  1. Been a long time since I’ve commented! So, to catch up — first, thanks for the reminder on Winterfest, I wanted to go last year to see Tammy’s work and others, and missed it!
Yes, you don’t want to irritate that shoulder too much, if it is causing you trouble. I had an ongoing issue with a shoulder for a good four months because of too much rowing machine; learned my lesson on overdoing it!
Enjoyed the posting of Burl’s chili, I’ve printed it off to make (or let Dave make!) soon.
And finally, LOVE your seasonal blog template. Happy Holidays! N.

  2. Thanks for the WinterFest plug! I guess if anyone should innocently comment that I look like you, I’ll still give them a deal. My mother always taught me to be polite to others so I won’t roll my eyes and say something like, “Yeah, like I have heard that before.”

See you in the morning for the big booth set-up!
