I’m a true flag-waving, pledge-of-allegiance saying, never-miss-a-vote American but one thing I won’t do is get up at the butt crack of dawn on Black Friday and “run with the bulls” at the nearest Target, Wal-Mart or Best Buy. No thanks! There is not a single item for sale at a bargain price that could lure me to join the throngs of people who truly are crazier than I am.
My morning consisted of coffee with the family, playing pool balls with Julia and Lydia and a trip to the gym where I hustled my butt on the StepClimber and tried to remember why eating a piece of pie – make that two – seemed like a good idea yesterday. Still don’t know the answer – don’t care either!
Ralph wanted an activity for the girls and since it was a bit chilly for playing at the park (for us, not the kids!) we met up with Tammy and spent an hour at Firehouse Pottery where the girls made Christmas ornaments for us and for Tammy and Steve. Ralph and I laughed that our two left brains can never begin to make a right which is why we drug Tammy along – she of the artistic talent! Of course she was a major hit with her nieces and insured they had a great time.
By time we’d grabbed a bite to eat, it was nap/quiet time for the girls and we handed them off to the guys so we could indulge in a bit of retail therapy. A friend in the Dillard’s shoe department told me it was not that busy which was evident by the fact they had more clerks than customers. Between the 3 of us we spent about 2 hours and $50 but had fun trying on clothes and people-watching.
I did do a little more online shopping today and got a few gift ideas so I’m not a total Scrooge! I even changed the theme of my blog to reflect the Christmas season – so there!
