Runnin’ With The Flock

We got up early this morning and joined over 5100 other fun people for the 2008 edition of the Turkey Trot.  Since the temp was only about 30 I layered up to keep warm and by the 1-mile mark, I had already shed 2 layers and was sweating like a big dog!  Cindy, Ralph and Blair chose to run the 5K and all posted reputable times – Tarah and I did a run/walk with Lydia in the stroller and my official time was 40:47 and I was 12 out of 45 in my age group.  See – you can take me away from the daily grind of numbers but I still love to check out the stats!

And here’s the scene of the finish line as I held up my phone to get the shot while I pulled off a sprint in the final seconds of the run!

I had just seen Papa Burl and Julia on the sidelines yelling words of encouragement for me.

It didn’t take long for us to load up and head out for Price Cutter so the runners could get a Starbucks and also some breakfast.  A perfect start to a perfect day with great opportunities for people watching – one of my favorite events of the year.
