Phoenix Photos   Leave a comment

We are home safely – our flight even arrived 20 minutes early today!  Thought I’d share some sights from our trip.

img_04751Here’s a great shot of the sunset last evening.  I think western skies are the prettiest – they just seem to be more vibrant and dramatic than we usually see at home.   But they don’t always have clouds to show these luscious colors.

Below are our friends Dave and JoAnn with whom we cumulatively celebrated 40 years of wedded bliss on November 9th.  They are former Springfieldians who also have a GoldWing and we always try to see them when we’re in Phoenix.img_04071

Now you know the REAL reason we went to Phoenix – it’s Cheerio Man – also known as Devin or Asian Mike.  We have a similar photo of Julia and I couldn’t resist taking this picture of him.

If the gunslinger below looks familiar, it’s really not Wyatt Earp waiting for the Gunfight at the OK Corral – it’s Burl looking like a tourist in Tombstone, AZ – site of the REAL Gunfight at the OK Corral although we saved our $ on the re-enactment!img_0449img_0472

And at the right you’ll see him standing by the ski lifts at Mt. Lemmon – wishing there was snow and he had a pair of skis with him.  It was 85 when we started our drive up the mountain and 49 at the top – sure glad I had a jacket with me.

On our drive up the mountain we saw some snow so I took this shot just for Tammy.  With luck this will be the first and last I see of snow all winter!

Pictured below are the western edition of our family – Mike, Annie and Devin on the left with Len, Stacey and Alex on the right.img_0434

Here I am with Len and Stacey – they live in San Diego and we don’t get to see them often so we were thrilled they drove to Phoenix for a family weekend.  Since we were also celebrating Len’s birthday, we had a dual party – here’s our cake.  img_0424

Len is an avid golfer and I’m sure he’s delighted that I at least get out and play a little now so the cake could reflect a golf theme!

I left out the photos of my injuries due to a bike wreck and brought on by a flat tire.  I had a total of 4 – one on Sunday and 3 yesterday.  Let’s just say the pavement won leaving me with some road rash on my knees and elbow.  Sure was glad to have an ER physician handy and Annie even had Neosporin and band-aids which she applied for me.  My bike mechanic, aka Hubby, bought a new tire and we had another flat so he’s decided the problem is in the wheel liner.  He has vowed to fix it when we’re there at Christmas so I can ride again.  Here’s how the bike looked when we left.

img_0474And here’s my own personal bicycle mechanic looking rather frustrated because every time he puts in a new tube, I ride a few miles and it goes flat!  My record yesterday was 4.3 miles – big whoop!

It’s great to be home….and Mulligan is a happy dog!
