Our vacation is flying by but we are managing to pack a lot of fun into a few days. Yesterday we met our dear friends, Dave and JoAnn, for lunch at the Fish Market where we celebrated 40 years of wedded bliss. Dave and JoAnn lived in Springfield for many years where they owned a successful business but about 5 years ago they retired early to sunny Phoenix where they live on a golf course and play lots of tennis and ride their GoldWing. We share an anniversary date – we just passed #6 and they had #34 – hence, 40 years of marriage!
Last evening Stacey, Len and Alex arrived from San Diego and we’ve been enjoying some quality time with them. Yesterday was Len’s birthday so this evening Len and I were the guests of honor and even shared our yummy birthday cake with the others – chocolate with buttercream frosting. I’m on sugar overload!
The guys had to get their Cracker Barrel fix for breakfast so Stacey and I opted for Mimi’s – too bad Annie was saving lives in ER or she could have joined us. We had a leisurely breakfast, walked around the mall playing Fashion Police, ran a few errands and then went to Trilogy at Vistancia Golf Course where the guys were playing this afternoon. We took clubs in case we wanted to hit range balls but decided instead to have lunch on the patio where the hot sun almost lulled us into a nap – especially Stacey after she had her Mimosa!
Best of all, Stacey and I got some real quality time together – something we rarely get to do without Len, Burl or Alex also vying for our time. I’m reminded once again how blessed I am with our wonderful blended family.
