Since Devin’s not available to model his birthday sweater, I chose one of the stuffed animals from the room where the grandkids sleep. Certainly not as cute as our little Devin but it was all I had today! Besides, even though we’re going to see our little guy tomorrow – and I’ll take this gift with me – he won’t get to open it until his first birthday next month. We will miss his celebration by a few days but will be there to help with his Christmas festivities.
This sweater is the 4th one I have knitted with this pattern but I love the results and it only took me about 3 weeks to knit it. I used a variegated cotton yarn with white along with pastel blue, green and yellow and the buttons are a combination of blocks and little teddy bears. I made a size 18 months knowing he’ll grow into it.
Now I need to finish laundry and finish laying out everything I want to take so I can pack. Our flight isn’t until 11:40 tomorrow morning so at least I won’t have to get up at the butt crack of dawn to get to the airport – and we’ll be on the ground before it’s 2:00 in Phoenix. I’m hoping that since it’s a direct flight, they won’t lose my luggage but there’s no guarantee – Ralph and Blair took an Allegiant Air flight to Las Vegas a few years ago and because there was too much weight on the plane, they arbitrarily left some luggage behind in Des Moines – including theirs!
This time tomorrow I’ll be some place where it’s warm and sunny – as opposed to cloudy, 52 and super-windy. Bring on that sun!!!
