img_0024In case you’re wondering who the chick is who’s hanging all over my sweet hubby, that would be MOI!  The golfer!

With perfectly cloudless skies and temps in the 70s today it was hard to find a thing not to like about our golf outing and we definitely picked the right day to play John Daly’s signature course in Branson. Since my experience on the greens is severely limited, this was my first time to play this course and while it had its share of challenges, I actually had some decent shots and best of all, I had fun!

We shot an 83 which was 11 over par but actually did have one birdie and several holes with par – interspersed with a disastrous 7 on one hole and a bunch of bogies.

But as Burl said, it only takes a few really good shots to keep you coming back for more and he should know since he subjects himself to this “game” at least 3-4 times a week.

Here’s a view of the 9th hole from the men’s tee box – it’s a par 3 but quite tricky and we felt lucky to only have a 4 on it.

img_0026After golf we enjoyed a late lunch/early dinner with our friends at Andy Williams’ Moon River Grill and now we’re settling in for a long evening of election bullcrap.

Thanks to a brisk wind all day and coolish temps, we are both exhausted.  And for some reason, I’m craving carbs – as exhibited by the fact that I pulled out an almost-empty bag of tortilla chips and polished off the dregs right out of the bag.  Sure haven’t done that for a long time but now I’m satisfied.

I’m thinking this may be just the time to start laying out dress patterns and work on that project.  I fear if I get in my easy chair with knitting or a book, I’ll soon be sound asleep.

I’m starting to fully understand Burl’s motto – “A bad day on the golf course, beats a great day at the office.”

PS – Happy Anniversary to my parents who would be celebrating their 69th anniversary today.  Given the current election predictions, it’s probably just as well they’re not alive to see the results – but I sure would like to have one last conversation with my dad about politics and economics.
