The news that Hollywood’s Mr. Blackwell has died was of more importance to me today than whatever the hell Obama or McCain are doing. I always loved Mr. B’s acerbic comments on the “Worst Dressed” stars – especially since he obviously never saw me, nor was I important anyway, so I never made his list.
I do, however, have to carefully choose my wardrobe on any given day when I may see my older daughter! I guess I’m exempt on days when I’m assisting in helping her move or painting her house but any other time is pretty much fair game for Tammy to cast a critical eye and say “Well now, where’d you get THAT?” which tells me her approval is nil (or less)! I do appreciate that she has a great eye for fashion and is quick to serve as my shopping guru when needed although I’ve been known to make a few selections on my own that passed her muster. And at other times, I really don’t care if I earn her approval or not!!!
I will miss Mr. B and his classic comments – he had a way of cutting to the chase and nailing his targets with just the right amount of zing. Perhaps Tammy should apply for his job! She certainly has the fashion eye and the sense of humor to follow in his footsteps.
