A man and his mower……….it’s a beautiful sight to behold! The used riding mower we bought 6 years ago for $200 finally bit the dust this summer and Burl has been on a quest for a “new” used mower. I often think it’s the thrill of the hunt that is most important to him but this search has ended successfully.
One of his buddies knew a lady who wanted to sell this mower and Burl pulled out all his sales negotiation skills and got the already-low price down another 25%. What a guy – it wasn’t the money, it was the deal and he’s a pro at them.
We picked it up this afternoon after our golf game (yes, we’re still speaking!) and as soon as we got home, he unloaded it from the trailer and I could hear him tooling around the back yard while I fixed dinner.
This particular piece of machinery not only puts him in the “elite” category in the neighborhood with its distinctive yellow and green paint job but it also features an automatic transmission that immediately switches from forward to reverse. I know it has some fancy name but that escapes me at the moment – but trust me, that was a big deal to my Lawn Boy.
He assures me I’ll love riding it and actually I will enjoy it as I don’t mind mowing the yard anyway – when I use the push mower I get a good workout and that’s what I’m after anyway. With this baby I can plug in my iPod and just jam away while I “work”.
And I’m told I’ll be riding the Rolls Royce of riding mowers. Such a deal!
