Burl’s cell phone is home! I was hopeful he could make it through the week until the gentleman who could it could deliver it to us on Saturday but dire circumstances made it necessary for us to drive 302 miles round trip to West Siloam Springs, OK and get it today. And what were those dire circumstances? It seems he missed two (not just one, but TWO) calls from golf buddies who had tee times yesterday and wanted him to play. That’s much worse than being gone when your dream crush calls to ask you to the senior prom although I wouldn’t know – I don’t think that ever happened to me!
I have asked Burl to buy a new case for the phone tomorrow or I will personally Super Glue it to his butt so it doesn’t go MIA again. The phone must be a feline because I think it’s already had at least 6 lives and time is running out for it.
But we did get to spend several hours together today – not that I was the most willing and excited participant but when we returned he gave me a hug and thanked me for going along so that made it all worthwhile. It’s just that his report of a warm, partly cloudy day was probably correct for somewhere – just not where we were. Instead we donned rain gear within the first hour and dealt with drizzle, wind and decreasing temps all day. A couple of times we briefly saw the sun try to come out but then it quickly hid behind the clouds.
I’m sure I’ll be ready to hop on the bike again soon but I’m pulling for a sunny day when we can just take a leisurely ride and enjoy some fall colors.
