Today I experienced a “first” in my life – and something I’m not sure Burl has done for a long, long time – if ever! I played 18 holes of golf AND I had fun! From listening to Burl’s comments following his almost-daily golf games I wasn’t sure golf and fun were ever used in the same sentence in a positive way.
I’m in a 4-woman scramble tournament next Monday so today, 3/4 of our team played a scramble and we ended up 3 over with a 75. I was pleasantly surprised that they even used 17 of my shots – especially since I was playing with a couple of gals who play quite regularly. It was a perfect fall day and for once I wasn’t ready to quit and go read a book after 8 holes. I’m not yet ready to declare myself as a regular player but let’s say there’s potential.
After I got home I hopped on the bike and rode to the library to return one book and pick up 5 more, including 4 travel guides for Brazil since we’re heading there for a couple of weeks in January. Burl left for a Shrine meeting and I grabbed a quick bite to eat and then headed for Nixa to watch Tarah cheer for the freshman football team. They beat Neosho handily 41-14 and she was an enthusiastic cheerleader.
Our next golf outing is Friday night – Couples Scramble at our club. Hopefully Burl will relax a bit and we can enjoy the game together – yeah, right!
Looking forward to a great day on Monday… so glad you’re going to play this year and have enjoyed having you on the planning committee!
