I love my hubby – I really do – and he is such a great help around the house. But (you knew that “but” was coming, didn’t you?) sometimes he forgets that he’s no longer in management and is now part of a partnership – in other words, he micromanages!! Big Time!
Case in point: our garage freezer (circa pre-1980 I suspect) has needed to be defrosted for quite some time so this afternoon when I thought he was leaving for a Shrine motorcycle meeting, I decided to tackle this chore. Turns out he wasn’t quite ready to depart and in a few short minutes proceeded to let me know how he would do this job. Well, DUH! If you know so much about how to do it, why haven’t you done it yourself?
For once I kept relatively quiet and did take his hint to use the heat gun – which I didn’t know we had – and then proceeded to nod yes to his other suggestions. As soon as he left, I DID IT MY WAY! Sometimes a little Frank Sinatra says it best!
2 hours later, the freezer is again frost-free and I’m actually taking inventory of what items are going into it. Needless to say, there were several things that succumbed to severe cases of freezer burn and didn’t make the cut.
I feel quite virtuous since I can see my accomplishment and marked another item off “the list”. Now the trick will be to defrost on a more regular basis so it’s not such a tedious chore and there is less waste.
