Anthony and Elizabeth are now Mr. and Mrs. and I almost cried today when I read For Better or For Worse. I have wanted them to be together before Lynn Johnston “froze” the characters in time and now I have closure. Tammy and I have rooted for them all along while Ralph kept insisting that Anthony had too much “baggage” – well, DUH, if that doesn’t make it a realistic comic strip, I don’t know what does!
So here’s to you, Anthony and Elizabeth. May all your days together be as happy as your wedding day.
Since we weren’t invited to the wedding, we spent the weekend on a motorcycle trip to St. Louis with Burl’s Shrine unit. We got to tour the Shriner’s Hospital for Children yesterday afternoon and the guys showed off their bikes to the kids who could get onto the back patio of the hospital. It was rewarding to see their eyes light up just by touching the handlebars on the bike and the guys were really sweet to the kids.
Today we took a very long and circuitous route home, never once getting onto an interstate. Left St. Peters at 10 this morning and arrived home about 6:30 but it was a perfect day for riding – temps in the low 80′s with great roads and a good group of friends.
Just finished watching the closing ceremonies of the Beijing Olympics. Have to admit my enthusiasm for the games was waning by the end of this week – I loved watching the competition but Bob Costas and his plastic hair and Mary Carilla and her lack of personality were wearing on me. And trust me, we will never know the true story of how old (or young) the Chinese gymnasts really are so we may as well give it up. Our girls can head back to the gym (or retire) and look ahead to London in 2012. In the meantime I’m trying to convince Burl we should be in British Columbia in 2010 for the Winter Games. Not that I like anything about cold weather but it’s a dream of his to attend so I think we need to start planning. Think he’ll take me to London in 2012?
Yay! Anthony and Elizabeth are finally married! I almost called you when I read it this morning, but the home inspectors are here and I didn’t want them to think I was a loon. Anyway, Ralph can diss on Anthony as much as she wants, but I think he’s perfect for Elizabeth and that they’ll be just as happy as John and Ellie and Michael and Deanna.
I’m with you on the Olympic games in that I got a bit tired of them by the end. It was refreshing to watch the Today Show this morning without that crappy John Williams music. I did enjoy parts of the games, but am glad all the hype is over. I say go for a trip to London and make sure you bring back goodies for the kids.
…and as happy as Tammy and Steve and Anne and Burl too! Hmmmm…London….are you thinking Waterford by chance?
