Big High and Bid Often   2 comments

That was our plan tonight at the Big Brothers Big Sister’s annual fundraiser, A New Taste, which we always enjoy attending.  After the fiasco last year when we bid with the wrong number we made absolutely certain we knew the correct number and as a result made some great purchases.  I got 6 months at my gym, Burl got a membership at a shooting gallery and some aluminum scaffolding (have no clue what he’ll use it for but he assures me it’s something he doesn’t have!) and we had a great time.

The food was fabulous but unfortunately we got full before we could try each of the 15+ restaurants – we just made sure we got Ocean Zen first and ended with ice cream from Emack & Bolio’s – and in between we sipped on our favorite beer, Bud Light Lime.

It was weigh-in day today and I had high hopes of hitting the 10-pound loss mark because I am giving myself a reward when I reach that milestone.  While I have lost steadily every week, today’s loss of .8 pounds only brought me to 9.8 total.  But I look on the positive side that even though I still have about 5 pounds to reach my personal goal (only 2 pounds for Weight Watchers lifetime) I feel so much better, have more energy and best of all, can wear some clothes that I couldn’t at the start of the summer.  And this evening I realized I was full after eating about half of what I normally would have eaten at a food free-for-all so I just stopped.

Remember our kitty?  I think he bunked in our big garage last night – when I hit the door opener this morning I saw a flash of gray bolt outside and heard a faint “mew”.  Have no clue where he’s staying now or what he’s eating – he hasn’t touched his food here since yesterday.  Here kitty, kitty, kitty.  If I catch him, do you think Burl will let me keep him?  Yeah, probably not!

  1. So…I guess you didn’t receive an extra set of tickets for us to the event, eh? :-) Sounds like it was fun. Congratulations on your weight loss. I need to lose 10 pounds, but I can’t deal with that stress right now!

I say to Burl, keep the kitty! It obviously wants to stay at your house.

  2. The other set of tickets went MIA – never did show up at my old office. Just saw the kitty – running under our deck. Haven’t yet come up with any inspirtation on what to name him but then I haven’t seen his face up close and personal – nor do I even know the gender! :-)
