Well so much for “no agenda, ride the bike to Rogersville” day. While I was still drinking my second cup of coffee and answering emails, Burl got out the stain, brushes, and tarps and started working on the deck. Since this is a project I keep saying we need to finish, naturally I joined him and we spent the better part of the day working together and making great progress. We had the TV on outside and got to at least listen to the Olympics this morning which was fun and made the time fly by.
We laughed because this is the first day of Life 2.0 that we have spent together working around the house and this is how I pictured at least one day a week when I left that pesky day job. Seems like golf, the gym, Shrine, Rotary and church have a way of interfering with whatever “free” time we think we will have.
For several days we have been hearing a constant “meow” coming from the vicinity of the hot tub. I put out milk and tuna under the hot tub where Mulligan couldn’t get to it and then found out the Mr. “NO we are not getting another cat and don’t even think of feeding that one” had done the same thing! We would find empty containers but never could see our furry friend. Finally today Burl decided maybe the cat had crawled up under the enclosed area of the hot tub when Burl had the side off over the weekend. Sure ‘nuf, there he was – a cute little grey and white kitten who ran up on the deck to get some of Mulligan’s water and then raced off when we tried to catch him. Later we spotted him in the enclosed area under our deck so have put out more food. We could probably get him to come to us were it not for Mulligan.
We made great progress on our deck today and if/when we can find another “free” day we can probably finish it. Looking at our calendar for the next 2 weeks that is unlikely but I’m thinking we may squeeze in some shorter work times and finish off this baby before Labor Day.
