A different backyard today – not the one from Nickelodeon but the one at the rear of our house! This evening we hosted what has become our annual neighborhood pool party and picnic and from all reports, it was a rousing success. My measurement for a great event is when no one leaves too early and tonight it was already dark before people started packing up their lawn chairs and gathering kids out of the pool to head for home.
I love to have people in our home but it’s a lot more fun to entertain when we can all be outside – so don’t expect to be invited to a fancy holiday party here because it’s too cold at Christmas to be outside. But give me a grill, the pool and a potluck where everyone is casual and just hangs out and that’s my kind of party.
Bella is now on her way home with Cindy and Brian – she was an absolute delight but let us know several times today that she missed her Mommy. She even told me she was going to wait on lunch until her Mommy got here and I figured she was going to be pretty hungry if she waited that long. Fortunately she scored a gold star on potty training and asked to be rewarded with a Popsicle and I explained she couldn’t have it until after she ate lunch. Yes, I’m still an old meanie – but it worked!
The house is a bit quieter now and I’m ready to finish cleaning up (Mulligan helped with the leftover hamburgers while we were telling Bella good-by) and get a little reading done. I’m almost done with my 101 in 1001 Days list so stay tuned…………….
Ha!! Loved the “Backyardigans” and then “Backyard Again” post titles…how clever!! But I wouldn’t have expected anything less from you…
I’m just so out of energy tonight, just not up to expending the energy to post about our busy weekend; will procrastinate until tomorrow… but of course always ready to be the voyeur and read about your’s… Enjoy your real 2.0 day tomorrow!! Nb.
