I’ve been infected – or more importantly, our home PC has been infected. Somehow Antivirus 2009 got into our PC yesterday so our tower is now at the hospital getting cured – should be home by later tomorrow or Monday at the latest. I now know that yesterday afternoon some emails sent to a regular were put into her Spam box indicating they were infected and my hope is that no one was infected inadvertently by correspondence from me.
This virus prevents me from using Internet Explorer – every time I try to get to a website it blocks access and tells me that for $49.95 I can install software to “protect” my PC. Yeah, sure! At least I was able to use email and my Microsoft Office products this morning and still have my iPhone for email communication and some Internet access – and my friend John Horton with Layer3 Technology tells me he hopes to have my PC healed quickly. Mine was not the first instance of this virus they had seen and he figured by time the technicians get to it, they will be pros at how to purge it from my hard drive.
Today has been Rotary Day with not only my noon meeting but also a 7:30 a.m. event for Rock ‘n Ribs where I was pleased that all the Rotary Clubs and Rotaract were able to distribute $130,000 to children’s charities in our community. What an awesome display of group effort and volunteering.
Just finished a meeting with the Girl Scouts (I’m using their PC to post) and tomorrow I get to spend all day at a meeting in Rolla as we wrap up our realignment meetings. Looks like I’ll get some knitting done.
Best of all, grandson Devin along with his parents Mike and Annie arrive this evening from Phoenix – can’t wait to hold him again and see what new tricks he has learned since we saw him 6 weeks ago.
