I’ve been a classic Type A person for years – in fact, my picture may be next to the definition in the dictionary. Structured, scheduled, not at all spontaneous – that was me. So I had no designs on changing these personality traits on a dime. Even though I’ve graduated to Life 2.0 I still keep a calendar on Outlook and link it to my iPhone but that’s because I still have important engagements – gym classes, lunches with friends, board meetings, Rotary gigs- just to name a few. And I have to keep track of hubby too – not an easy task!
BUT – I find I am living life with much less of an agenda than I had a couple of months ago. Case in point – today I had to go to Weight Watchers (down .8 pounds thank you – not phenomenal but at least in the right direction) but when I got delayed with a phone call, it was no big deal – I just showed up late and nothing happened.
I had an hour or so to kill before Rotary so I went back to Dillard’s and their fabulous sale – scored a cute top and actually had time to enjoy shopping without being in a rush. After Rotary, our district governor asked if I might possibly have some time to spend showing her projects in Springfield and I was delighted to be able to take her to K-Park and share what my club has done. My unofficial “agenda” for the afternoon was to mow the yard but guess what – it will wait until tomorrow.
I did manage to get home to check my email and change clothes and then took off for a Rotary Happy Hour which I enjoyed thoroughly without even checking my watch. It was fun to just sit and visit with members and their spouses and not even think about having to be anywhere else – the day may come when I don’t even put on a watch………..but don’t hold your breath! Just getting to Type A- is a step in the right direction – I probably shouldn’t push it too hard!
Tomorrow’s official agenda? Couples golf at the club with hubby at 5:30 followed by dinner with our golf buddies. The unofficial agenda? Ride my bike to the gym (may or may not get there for a 9:00 class), maybe mow the yard – that’s all folks! Pool is closed until Saturday thanks to the addition of 15 pounds of cholorine by the pool folks yesterday – may have to stay inside and read or knit. Oh well!
