That’s My Kid   1 comment

If you caught a look at the News-Leader today – especially the front page of the Style section – you may have seen a couple of gorgeous sterling silver pendants.  The article was about the traditional and modern gift suggestions for wedding anniversaries and featured items from local artists and boutiques.  In case you’re wondering, the 25th anniversary is silver and Tammy’s pieces were the showcase for that year.  Several people either emailed me or mentioned to me that they had seen them and I could proudly say to myself “that’s my kid!”.  Not that I had anything to do with giving her artistic talent genes but hey, she’s still related to me and I’m extremely proud of her and her talents.

I commuted by bike again today – gym, Cox (to pick up my last official paycheck), lunch meeting, grocery store – and then when I was a little over a mile away from home, I had a flat on the back tire.  I was coming down a great hill on Cherry Street and all of a sudden I just knew.  Since I hate fixing rear flats and I was 1.3 miles from home I just walked the rest of the way despite the 93 degree temps.  Luckily my Handy Man is also Mr. Bicycle Repair Guy and he fixed me up in short order – gotta love that guy!  I knew it was bound to happen with me riding more but at least I was close to home today.

This evening we met Tammy and Steve to look at a house they are considering buying.  It’s a very unusual home but one I fell for immediately – and it’s a perfect house for them.  It has a total of 6 levels which includes a loft sleeping area in one bedroom – very cool and just perfect for a couple of little girls I know when they are a bit older.  The house is very open and seems much larger than it is and I’m hoping they can sell their home and the house gods will smile down upon them.

Steve had to go back to finish a job for a client but Burl, Tammy and I headed for Tuscan Grill for a drink and dinner.  I had actually planned to cook tonight but old habits are hard to break – after all these years of always eating out on Friday nights, Burl wouldn’t even consider staying home.  And to think I was the one who wanted to stay home and feed him.

Tomorrow we’re heading to the lake for the weekend with friends – by way of the Wal-Mart in Nixa where granddaughter Tarah and her fellow Nixa freshman cheerleaders are having a bake sale.  I made a cake, lemon poppy seed muffins, lemon bars and brownies for her and Burl has already said he’ll be buying the lemon bars since I wouldn’t even give him a sample.

Time to go frost the brownies and pack……………

  1. Thanks for all the nice words. I was surprised my pieces were so prominently displayed, but I was mainly pleased the reporter suggested buying from a local artist.

Glad you liked the house. We’ve spent all weekend packing stuff to move to a storage unit so we can stage the house. Cross your fingers and say a prayer that this is going to work because I’ve already mentally left this house and moved in to the other one!

Dinner was great and it was nice to sit and chat with you both. I’m sure you had fun at the lake. I have a pair of bargain shoes waiting for you when you get home.

Anyone need a really cute bungalow in the Roundtree area? I know one that’s going up for sale soon…
