Today “almost” smacked of my former life – I got up early but had plenty of time to drink coffee, read the paper and take the dog for a walk before doing hair and make-up (doesn’t happen that often any more!) and getting dressed in “real” clothes before heading out for the day around 9:15. I went to WW (good news – down 4 pounds thanks to lots of activity and actually not cheating for a week – I’m not naive enough to think that can happen again), ran a couple of errands, went to Rotary, worked out, got my hair cut and highlighted , ran home and grabbed a bite to eat before joining friend Sarah at her Thursday Night Knitting Group known as Knit Together.
Sarah has invited me to join her group in the past but now that they have moved to Schweitzer Methodist and I have moved to Life 2.0 it’s much easier to attend. I met Tammy, Heather and Kim who were there along with Sarah and we have a great time just sitting there knitting and visiting. I was interested in how they all got started knitting since they are much younger than I am – and they are light years ahead of me in their knitting skills and knowledge. But the good news is that I have plenty to learn and they appear to be eager to teach me. I’m currently working on a baby blanket but want to learn how to do socks so Sarah said she’ll find an easy pattern for me to learn on and they will help me get going. Tammy and Sarah have already suggested I use long circular needles instead of double-pointed and that’s just fine with me – I’m much more comfortable with circulars.
I especially enjoyed meeting Tammy since I’ve been reading her blog for several months. I linked to it through Sarah since Tammy is a knitter so now I have a face to go with the blog! She even had a hint for me to use Google Reader to know when my favorite blogs are updated.
A fun day – no biking or pool time but I did get get to read and knit – what’s not to like about that? And Burl even commented that he liked my hair – it’s much shorter but should work well under the bike helmet for the rest of the summer.
I had a lot of fun talking to you tonight, too! (And for the record, I don’t think I’m that much younger than you!)
